With the school holidays upon us, our Junior teams take a break for the next two weekends.

Coming up this week…
Our Marist NH Recreational Services Premier 1 side have their away Plate Semi Final, and the Bluebellies are also away.

MARIST NH SENIORS

RECREATIONAL SERVICES PREMIER 1
Sat 1st July: The Marist NH Premiers put in a strong performance triumphing against a spirited Helensville side in the Plate Quarterfinal on Saturday. Both teams have struggled at times this season and viewed this match as a chance to get another win on the board. Marist scored some of their best tries all year through the backs which thrilled the Saints faithful on the balcony and would’ve been try of the season contenders in any year. While the team didn’t take advantage of the wind and lead in the second half, this was down to a committed Helensville side who fought right to the end for a final score Marist 35 to Helensville 25.

Coaches Nili, Jacob and Maurice will be happy with the victory as the Club will take momentum into this Saturday’s match against Silverdale. A win this week would guarantee a top 6 finish and, more importantly, a chance to win the Premier Plate. It should be a cracking game up the road and a repeat of the first game of the season where Marist put Silverdale under severe pressure but weren’t able to convert their chances into points. We are all hoping those chances stick this weekend. GTS!

Sat 8th July: PLATE SEMI FINAL Recreational Services Premier 1 vs Silverdale, 2:45pm, Silverdale WMP 1

BLUEBELLIES (PRESIDENTS)
Sat 1st July: The Bluebellies v Snails match was played in extremely windy conditions, with the Bellies up against an always strong and willing opponent in the Snails.  Numbers again were low, not helped due to injuries and School holidays. The game was played in good spirit and keenly contested, with the 4 all draw not reflecting how close it was. The Snails used the wind better and their outside backs were too quick once they were in space.  The team as a whole gave everything they had regardless of the numbers. This week we verse the Guerillas away at Takapuna.

Sat 8th July: Bluebellies vs Takapuna, 2:45pm, Onewa 3

MARIST NH JUNIORS
Reports for the 1st July below.

J2 HAWKS
With a few boys on holiday and others injured we had to reshuffle the team against a very spirited ECB team. Boys showed lots of grit and determination in a see saw game with a excellent conversation sealing the game.
🏉 Player of the Day: Mason Koh
🏉 Coaches Award: Dennis Engelbrecht
🏉 Opposition POD: Niko Suluape

J3 BULLDOGS
Tough game against Helensville. We let the ball slip through our fingers a few times, and the other side used it to their advantage.  The well oiled machine that we had last week blew away in the wind this week.
🏉Player of the Day: Dan Buckley
🏉Coaches Award: Kobi Manu
🏉 Opposition POD: Tobias Boad

J5 WOLVES
J5 Wolves played a very close game with Mahurangi, with lots of tries and the lead changing multiple times. Mahurangi came back strong in the second half and their last minute try resulted in our first draw.
🏉Player of the Day: Chadd Coyle-Dowling
🏉Coaches Award: Josh Buckley
🏉Opposition POD: Thomas Paterson

J6 NINJAS
J6 Ninjas experienced some true winter rugby weather on Saturday out at Helensville. Playing in conditions they aren’t used to, didn’t change the wide expansive attacking style of play they enjoy so much. What was impressive was the continued improvement on defence.
🏉Player of the Day: Liam Craddock
🏉Coaches Award: Rocco Robinson
🏉 Opposition POD: Noah Cettina

J7 RED TIGERS
In absolutely terrible conditions the J7 Red Tigers as a complete team, played what I thought was a fantastic game, a character building game, and they never gave up or complained. Everything we trained for this week made a huge difference. I saw lots of great performances. I would of liked to have given all the players a certificate and it was great to see so many parents and supporters at the game.
🏉Player of the Day: Isabella Florian
🏉Coaches AwardLottie Baines
🏉Opposition POD: Ruan Smit

J7 BLUE TIGERS
J7 Blue Tigers had an awesome game on Saturday considering the wet and cold conditions. Super proud of the kids and parents for just pushing through and keep on going. It was also Jax's birthday, so after the game the team got dry and went to play Laser tag. Good team building for them.
🏉Player of the Day: Alexis Wentzel
🏉Coaches Award: Zavier Combrinck
🏉Opposition POD: Liam Maguire-Aubrey

J8 RED DRAGONS
J8 Reds had a spirited game against an older and physically bigger Glenfield team. They held their own though and had some excellent runs resulting in a lot of corner tries.

J8 BLUE DRAGONS
Great game for J8 Blue Dragons. A very strong game against Takapuna.
🏉Player of the Day: Moby Hurinui
🏉Coaches Award: Connor Campbell
🏉Opposition POD: Charl due Plessis

U15 GIRLS RIP OPALS
Friday Festival Cancelled.

U11 GIRLS RIP SAPPHIRES
U11 Sapphire’s had a truely outstanding game Friday night against a hosting Kumeu side. I’m not sure if either team knew who came out on top when we gapped it from the hail shower for their clubrooms very close to full time 🤷🏻‍♀🤪🥴. Thinking they pipped us though.
Our girls were all held individually accountable for 100% focus & effort both at training and our game and it saw them all play outstanding rugby…we awarded top girl to the whole team! Plenty to work on, but their attitude & giving their everything for their team mates sky rocketed this week. Special mention to our amazing whānau on the sidelines who gifted the coaches petrol vouchers as a half season thanks after the game. 🥰 We are super lucky to have their enthusiasm & support each week!
🏉Player of the Day: The Team!
🏉Opposition POD: Te Koharangi Moynihan
