MARIST NH SENIORS

BLUEBELLIES (PRESIDENTS)
Another great end to the playing season with the Finals day hosted out at Riverhead by Kumeu.  All teams were there and it’s always a good way to finish amongst the fellow pressies.

The Bellies came out on the wrong side of the 4 all draw against the Massey Maulers. The injection of their AB”s and some ex Harbours reps, also enjoying the day, were the difference compared to the first when played under lights when the Bellies prevailed.

Thanks to the Kumeu team for another enjoyable finish to the season.

Player of the day went to Scottie, who wrapped up the knee to get the first run of the season, and was one of our try scorers.

To all the Bellies and Belles, Arisa (our physio) ,along with supporters who have come to watch over the season, thank you for all that you have contributed to the Bellies family.  And of course team management for the organisation of the on and off field stuff.  See you all next year.

Go the Bellies.

MARIST NH JUNIORS
Reports for the 12th August below. Also please see below the flyer for our Bounce Bonanza Junior Prizegiving!

J2 HAWKS
No Report.

J3 BULLDOGS
Slim on players this week due to illness and injuries, we had to borrow a player from our opposition. After a few interesting calls from the ref (must of been Australian), we played a great second half and haulled back the score to give Silverdale a scare. The boys did really well and should be proud of how they coped with some confusing calls against them.

J5 WOLVES
Despite forgetting how to tackle for long periods of the game, J5 Wolves snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a hard-fought win over Takapuna. Probably our most evenly-contested game of the season and a great opportunity to play against a hard-running and direct Taka side. Lokei picks up two awards for some brilliant direct running and tries, and Handre for some last ditch defence and for being a complete pest at the breakdown!
🏉Player of the Day: Lokei Lee
🏉Coaches Award: Handre van Loggerenberg
🏉Opposition POD: Lokei Lee

J6 NINJAS
J6 had a great battle against Mahu up at Mahurangi last Saturday. The team has in recent weeks shifted our focus onto the importance of passing to our teammates before the tackle. This was implemented extremely well by the players with tries scored by our teammates in open space.
🏉Player of the Day: Rocco Robinson
🏉Coaches Award: Luca Walsh
🏉Opposition POD: Rocco Robinson

J7 RED TIGERS
J7 Red Tigers had an excellent game with lots of tries and heaps of ripping that led to a lot of turnovers. There wasn't much to say at half time other than keep it up! Everyone is playing fantastic and is a joy to watch. Even when the game had finished, they were all playing and running around - a big job to get them back in!
🏉Player of the Day: Harrison Gott
🏉Coaches Award: Cooper Stewart
🏉Opposition POD: Ruan Smit

J7 BLUE TIGERS
J7 Blue Tigers went up against Takapuna Blue. We had a slow start but improved as the game continued. The team got their rhythm back and did really well. Scored a lot of tries and got many rips.
🏉Player of the Day: Griff Wilcox
🏉Coaches Award: Janko Bouwer
🏉Opposition POD: Jax Chase

J8 RED DRAGONS
J8 Reds played a very competitive Takapuna team. They were absolutely on form for defence which meant the Red Dragons were having to work their way to the try line. They were starting to get the hang of things by the second halve and improving their own defensive skills with a lot of rips.
🏉Player of the Day: Bryn Wheaton
🏉Coaches Award: Walter Brown/ Fady Francis
🏉Opposition POD: Walter Brown

J8 BLUE DRAGONS
No Report.

U15 GIRLS RIP OPALS
After going down by 1 point to Taka Navy early in the season, we got out to a comfortable lead by half time. They came back at us but we held on to win 22-20. Great game with everyone standing up and playing their part - just a great team effort across the park. Lize got her first double for the year so was our Player of the Day and Aliya for her continued organisation and leadership on the field nabbed the Coaches Award.
🏉Player of the Day: Lize Bezuidenhout
🏉Coaches Award: Aliya Porter

U11 GIRLS RIP SAPPHIRES
Part way through the season our U11 girls had a big loss on home ground to our North Shore opposition. In fact, we decided to use the 2nd half as a training run & swapped a couple of players with theirs to help our girls gain understanding. But today, against the same team, we dominated! With no subs & at times playing a player down while sorting injuries, we came away with a 15-7 win. Their coach commented on our improvement, highlighting our good passing - which was our team goal for this game. The coaches are immensely proud of the effort the girls put in on Saturday. They deserved their great result!
🏉Player of the Day: Aby Livesey-Unasa
🏉Coaches Award: Alora Hart
🏉Opposition POD: Eden Rose
